The month of Ramadan has arrived. It’s time to perform various good deeds during this holy month to increase your rewards. Don’t let Ramadan pass you by without maximizing your worship.

However, with so many distractions, it’s easy to forget to perform acts of worship and good deeds without a to-do list. Yet, doing so will make a huge difference in your Ramadan experience.

Here is a guide containing practices that you can do during the month of Ramadan to maximize your rewards in this holy month.

List of Good Deeds That Can Be Done During the Month of Ramadan

1. Fasting, a mandatory practice in the month of Ramadan

Fasting every day in the month of Ramadan is fardu kifayah. So, the main obligation in this holy month is fasting from dawn until sunset. This is done in accordance with the word of Allah SWT in the Al-Quran surah Al-Baqarah verse 185.

However, Allah SWT also permits you to skip fasting if you are sick, menstruating, or traveling. However, consult a doctor and religious scholar if you cannot fast.

2. Read the Quran every day

You will get 10 rewards for every letter in the Koran that is read. So, it would be a shame if you didn’t read the Koran one day.

Make this Ramadan a perfect opportunity to establish a routine of reciting the holy verses of the Quran. If possible, read one juz’ (chapter) every day, and by the end of the month or the end of Ramadan, you’ll have completed the entire Quran.

The best time to recite the Quran is after the morning Fajr prayer or between Asr and Maghrib prayers. However, you can recite the Quran at any time that suits you.

3. Sunnah Prayers Before and/or After Obligatory Prayers

According to HR. Tirmidhi, Allah SWT will build a house in Heaven if you perform the sunnah prayers four rak’ahs before and two rak’ahs after Zuhr, two rak’ahs after Maghrib, two rak’ahs after Isha, and two rak’ahs before Fajr.

If you take the time to do it during this month, then in the following months you will become accustomed to doing it.

Besides feeling much more spiritual, the blessings you receive will also increase.

4. Increase Zikr

Another practice you can do while fasting during Ramadan is to recite dhikr anytime and anywhere. You can do it in the car on the way to work or while waiting in line at the supermarket.

Use every free moment you have to remember Allah SWT. Some dhikr you can recite are as follows.

  • Subhanallah or Subhanallah wabihamdihi

It is recorded that the reward for saying this dhikr is that a tree will be planted for you in Paradise.

The Hadith from Bukhari also notes that if someone says this sentence 100 times a day, their sins will be forgiven even if they are as many as the foam in the ocean.

  • Alhamdulillah

The reward mentioned for this practice is that your scales will tilt in a good direction on the Day of Judgment.

  • Laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah

If you often say this dhikr, then you will enter through a special door in Heaven.

  • Subhanallah (x33), Alhamdulillah (x33), Allahuakbar (x34)

Read these three dhikr after prayer and before sleeping.

5. Giving iftar food to other people

Get double rewards by giving iftar food to people who are fasting. In accordance with the words of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

So, give iftar meals to those in need. You can also invite family, neighbors, or relatives to break the fast together at home.

If the mosque near your house is holding an iftar event, you can also donate food or drinks there.

6. Pray More

Ramadan is a special occasion when Allah SWT forgives sins and accepts repentance. As believers, you must repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness during this blessed month.

So, don’t forget to always ask for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy during this month of Ramadan.

7. I’tikaf, one of the practices in the month of Ramadan

During the month of Ramadan, Rasulullah SWT used to spend the last 10 days in the mosque for I’tikaf and seeking Laylatul Qadar.

Here are some ways I’tikaf can help you increase your faith.

  • Dedicating 10 days a year solely to Allah SWT is the best way to purify the heart. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and dedicate oneself solely to serving Allah SWT.
  • This is a perfect opportunity to get closer to the Quran as you will spend hours at night reading and reflecting on Allah’s Word.
  • It is an ideal opportunity to get the reward of Lailatul Qadar.

8. Be Kind to Employees

Ramadan is a time to show compassion for Allah SWT’s creation. One way to do this is by lightening the workload of employees who support your business during Ramadan.

So, lightening the burden on employees can be one of the best acts of kindness during Ramadan. You can do this by giving employees access to the Labamu app.

Meanwhile, as a business owner, you can use Labamu’s Employee feature to ensure your business operates safely and is free from fraud even when you are not present.

9. Stop Bad Habits

This holy month is the most effective time to stop bad habits, such as smoking, gossiping, cursing, gadget addiction, lying, laziness, wasting time, and many more.

If you want your fast to be accepted by Allah SWT, you must leave these habits.

10. Go for Umrah, if you can afford it

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Indeed, the Umrah pilgrimage in the month of Ramadan is the same as the Hajj pilgrimage.” (Sahih al-Bukhari: 1782, Sahih Muslim: 1256)

So, if you are financially and physically able, then performing the Umrah pilgrimage in the month of Ramadan can be an extraordinary act of worship.
