Recently, the Indonesian government updated regulations concerning franchise <\/a>businesses by issuing Government Regulation No. 35 of 2024 (PP 35\/2024), which came into effect on September 2, 2024. <\/p>\n\n

This regulation replaces PP 42 of 2007, introducing several adjustments that better support the development of the franchise business in Indonesia. <\/p>\n\n

Key points of the new regulation include:<\/p>\n\n

1. Business Operational Duration<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Businesses must operate for a minimum of three years to qualify as a franchise, reduced from the previous requirement of five years. <\/p>\n\n

2. Profit Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Franchisors must demonstrate that their business is profitable by providing audited financial statements for the past two years. Labamu offers financial reporting solutions that help franchisors track sales, expenses, and profits. <\/p>\n\n

3. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The new regulation introduces harsher penalties for violators, including a prohibition on using the term “franchise” without official registration.<\/p>\n\n

Franchisors must provide complete business information to prospective partners within a 14-day period before they make the decision to join.<\/p>\n\n
