Ramadan has arrived! It’s the perfect time to engage in various acts of worship and good deeds to multiply your rewards. Don’t let this sacred month pass by without making the most of your spiritual journey.
However, with so many distractions, it’s easy to forget important acts of worship and kindness if you don’t have a clear plan. Having a list of meaningful activities can make a significant difference in your Ramadan experience.
Here’s a guide to help you maximize your rewards with beneficial deeds throughout this blessed month.
List of Good Deeds to Perform During Ramadan
1. Fasting: The Mandatory Act of Worship in Ramadan
Fasting every day during Ramadan is a fundamental obligation (fard kifayah). The primary duty in this holy month is to abstain from food, drink, and other prohibitions from dawn (Fajr) until sunset (Maghrib), as commanded by Allah SWT in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185).
However, Allah SWT allows exemptions for those who are ill, menstruating, or traveling. If you are unable to fast, it is best to consult a doctor and a religious scholar to ensure you follow the correct guidelines.
2. Recite the Quran Daily
You will receive ten rewards for every letter of the Quran that you recite. So, it would be a missed opportunity if you go a day without reading it.
Make this Ramadan the perfect time to build a habit of reciting the Quran regularly. If possible, aim to read one juz per day, so by the end of the month, you will have completed the entire Quran.
The best times to read are after the Fajr prayer in the morning or between Asr and Maghrib. However, you can choose any time that works best for you.
3. Perform Sunnah Prayers Before and/or After Obligatory Prayers
According to HR. Tirmidzi, Allah SWT will build a house in Paradise for those who perform four rak’ahs before and two rak’ahs after Zuhr, two rak’ahs after Maghrib, two rak’ahs after Isha, and two rak’ahs before Fajr.
If you make time to perform these Sunnah prayers consistently during Ramadan, it can help you develop a habit of continuing them in the following months.
Not only will you feel more spiritually connected, but the blessings you receive will also increase.
4. Increase Your Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah)
Another valuable act of worship during Ramadan is engaging in dhikr anytime and anywhere. You can do this while commuting to work, waiting in line at the supermarket, or during any free moment.
Make the most of your time by remembering Allah SWT. Some powerful dhikr you can recite include:
Subhanallah atau Subhanallah wabihamdihi
It is recorded that the reward for reciting this dhikr is that a tree will be planted for you in Paradise.
A hadith from Bukhari also states that whoever recites this phrase 100 times a day will have their sins forgiven, even if they are as numerous as the foam of the sea.
Alhamdulillah
The reward for this deed is that your scale will tilt towards the good on the Day of Judgment.
Laa haula wa laa quwwata illa billah
If you frequently recite this dhikr, you will enter through a special gate in Paradise.
Subhanallah (x33), Alhamdulillah (x33), Allahuakbar (x34)
Recite these three dhikrs after prayer and before sleeping.
5. Providing Iftar Meals for Others
Earn multiple rewards by offering iftar meals to those who are fasting, as emphasized in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Consider giving iftar meals to those in need, inviting family, neighbors, or relatives to break their fast together at home.
If a nearby mosque hosts iftar gatherings, you can also contribute by donating food or drinks to support the event.
6. Increase Your Prayers
Ramadan is a special opportunity when Allah (SWT) forgives sins and accepts repentance. As a believer, you should sincerely repent and seek His forgiveness during this blessed month.
So, never forget to continuously ask for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness throughout Ramadan.
7. I'tikaf, One of the Acts of Worship in Ramadan
During Ramadan, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to spend the last ten days in the mosque for I’tikaf, seeking Laylatul Qadr.
Here are some ways I’tikaf can help strengthen your faith:
Dedicating ten days a year solely to Allah SWT is one of the best ways to purify the heart. It provides a perfect opportunity to take a break from worldly distractions and devote oneself entirely to worshiping Allah.
This is also an ideal chance to strengthen your connection with the Qur’an, as you will spend hours at night reading and reflecting on Allah’s words.
Moreover, I’tikaf increases your chances of attaining the immense rewards of Laylatul Qadr, the most blessed night of the year.
8. Treat Employees with Kindness
Ramadan is a time to show compassion toward Allah’s creations. One way to do this is by easing the workload of employees who help run your business during this holy month.
Lightening their responsibilities can be one of the best acts of kindness in Ramadan. You can support them by providing access to the Labamu app, which offers various features to make their jobs easier.
For example, the QR Menu feature simplifies order management, while the POS Cashier system helps employees process customer payments more efficiently.
As a business owner, you can also use Labamu’s Employee Management feature to ensure smooth operations and prevent fraud, even when you’re not physically present.
9. Break Bad Habits
The holy month of Ramadan is the perfect time to eliminate bad habits such as smoking, gossiping, cursing, excessive screen time, lying, laziness, wasting time, and more.
If you want your fasting to be accepted by Allah SWT, you must strive to leave these negative behaviors behind.
10. Perform Umrah, If Able
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
"Indeed, performing Umrah during Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj." (Sahih al-Bukhari: 1782, Sahih Muslim: 1256)
So, if you are financially and physically capable, performing Umrah during Ramadan can be an extraordinary act of worship.
Those are some of the good deeds you can practice during Ramadan. Don't forget to use the Labamu app to help you and your employees manage your business more efficiently. Download it now on Google Play or the App Store!
